Located 12 miles outside of Soldotna, A Hiada-way is a modern and bright fully furnished apartment with hardwood floors and ceilings. It’s a favorite of couples, but can sleep up to four. Carole, an Alaska Native, has decorated the place with Haida and tribal art, as well as Alaska wildlife prints.
A Hiada-way features one bedroom with a Queen Size bed. There is a full-sized futon in the living room. A Hiada-way houses four comfortably. All of the windows have blackout shades and curtains for visitors who are not used to Alaska’s midnight sun.
The fully equipped kitchen features a four burner stove top with an oven, double sink, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and refrigerator. From the great room sliding glass doors step out to a 32 x 20 deck that overlooks the Kasilof River. There is an outside dining area with the grill for your convenience, as well as a fire pit.
In the spring, swans, snow geese, and cranes rest in the open grass on their way North to their mating grounds. They can be here for days or weeks. Seagulls mate in the air and lay their eggs. There is often a battle of seagulls bombing eagles in an effort to keep them from eating the eggs and newborn hatchlings. In the fall and winter guests will see ducks, cranes, and swans. The wild cries of the birds is music to your soul. Year round you will see moose and often baby moose.
We are close to public beaches that are popular for walking, picnics, campfires, and sun bathing. The Kenai Peninsula is home to 3 golf courses, hiking trails, and tons of wildlife viewing opportunities. Nearby cities feature gift shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and historical buildings.
We do not provide fishing facilities. While our property borders the river, guests cannot use our riverfront access for fishing. That said, there are a number of fishing spots located just a short drive from A Hiada-way. Carole is always happy to locate a guide for your fishing adventures or to point you in the right direction if you’re going it alone. Fish freezers are available on site for $4/day.
